Look out South Paulding Middle School...

Yesterday Lyci took part in the day in the life of a 6th grader at her new school. It was hard for me to leave, I think I told her bye and I love you about 10 times. SHe was like "Ok Mommy," and " You have already told me bye." Heartbroken and a little, scratch that a lot sad, I left and came home. Well the morning went by and I went to pick her up. She was all smiles and had exciting info to tell me. She has a list of clubs she wants to join, she talked to the cheerleaders and got some tryout pointers and opened a locker on her first time. All in all she had fun.

All summer long I have dreaded this. Lyci going to middle school. She is so sweet and innocent, I just do not want to lose that. I was so worried because most of her friends are going to another school. And there she is, she just takes off and does not look back. I guess we are lucky to have a daughter like her. I know she will do great. Brian reminds me, that she has a level head on here shoulders and then I feel better.

As we start the next three years of middle school, I get sad and happy. I was told something yesterday that sums up how our children change in Middle school.

"They are not the same children they used to be, and are not the people they will become."

As school starts in a week, I know my daughter will not be the same innocent, little girl she has been the last 11 years, nor will she be the woman I know she will become. I raise my glass and invite a drink to the next three years, may we all make it out of middle school in one peice.

Future Rockstar

Tonight Lyci has a couple of friends over and they are rocking to rockband. What a good night after a tough week. I love the fact that she can just be a happy kid. I hope you all enjoy the video of her.
Not only can she sing, but she is one heck of a drummer also.

Now it feel like summer

We got new deck furniture and love it. We bought from Georgia Backyard. What is neat about this set, is that it is made out of a wood better then teak, it is called Jaharrah wood. It is supposed to do really good in rain, so we are hopeful. I have put the wood protector on it and so we should be good, right? I hope so. The umbrella and seat cushions came from PotteryBarn. I think they all look really good together.

Brian is busy building a platform for the kids to jump into the pool. We have been fighting that stupid thing all summer and now I think we have kicked its butt. The kids went swimming today and had a blast. We bought this robot pool cleaner made by the people who make the romba vacuum. Of course, the kids named it Walle. So Walle is busy keeping the bottom looking good.

Here's to many days enjoying the hot sun in the pool and many nights enjoying a cold beer on the deck. Hope you all are having a fantastic summer.

Date Night

Brian and I decided to venture out to the movies last night on the opening night of Wanted. Well lets just say it was crazy. We tired to catch the 9:45, but it was sold out. How in the world could it have been sold out that late in Douglasville? One of the great unanswered questions of the universe. Anyways, we bought tickets for the next showing which was 10:25. So here we are in the closed mall and ALOT of time to kill.

Finally time to go and get a seat. It was a madhouse, people everywhere. They were actually pushing to get into the theatre. What has this world come too? I could not beleive it. We get in and the theatre fills up fast.

Now about the movie. It was AWESOME. I would recommend anyone going and seeing it. The stunts were really cool. And hello I am a girl. It is an action movie, but ladies it is worth seeing and you can make your man happy at the same time. So I am giving this movie an A+, (get it because I am a teacher, hehe). Go and see it and let me know if you feel the same way.

Puppy Love

So we knew we when decided to buy a bulldog we would have to deal with health issues... well Jackson is in skin issue he--. He was diagnosed with a type of hereditary mange, and now he has a severe skin infection. He has some hot spots and is just one big sore. He is going to be fine, he is on like 4 types of meds. I feel so bad for him, the sores look like they hurt, but he is such a great dog. At the vet, he was so good. He let them do all the things they needed to. Hopefully he will be better soon. The vet bill was crazy, but what makes it easier to swallow is that our vet is amazing. Villa Rica Animal Hospital is great, they care about your pet and also try and cut you a break when they can. What else can I say, Jackson is worth it all.

5 things I know

Ok... so I have been reading up on how to blog. Everything I have read says to talk about things that you know. So I thought I would tell you 5 things I know.

1. Christian, Lyci and Riain are growing up way to fast. ( here is Lyci doing the 5th grade walk- her last walk in the halls of elementary school as a student)

2. From my parent side- the summer is dragging on but from my teacher side- it is flying by

3. Having a pool is not as fun as the idea of having a pool

4. Family is the most important aspect of my life

5. Having Brian work from home has been the best thing to happen to our family in a long time

So there are a few things I know. Until next time... Laugh and Love often
